After receiving a judgement in small claims what other actions can you take if they are elderly?
I work for a payday loan store and we have a few elderly people that never paid us back and closed their bank accounts to prevent us from debiting them. We took them to small claims and because they did not show up for court we received a default judgement. Even with a judgement some of these people just ignore paying us and Im wondering if there is a way to get the money back. With younger people I know I can garnish their wages and taxes but with old folk they dont make enough to file taxes, I cant garnish their Social Security and apparently I cant garnish pension either. I live in Michigan and Im pretty sure the law states that all pensions are garnishable unless they are retired state workers but according to chrysler I cant garnish wages. I also have the ability to reposes their property but for the most part our customers dont have cars or anything to their name. Is there any legal way I can collect debt from the elderly if the decided to not pay us on there own free will?
